Bob Hope Show on Bennington

Sure do remember the visit of Bob Hope.
Senior Officers with staterooms had to give them up to the stars of the troupe. Bob Hope got the Admiral's cabin, naturally. I remember CDR Harry Irvine, the Navigator, had to give up his stateroom to Vic Damone. Vic was constantly spraying his throat, complaining about any cigarette smoke, and was always changing seats to find one where there was no draft. He was paranoid about his voice.
I gave up my stateroom to actress Anna Kashfi, the Indian beauty, former Miss World and the ex-wife of Marlon Brando who bore him the daughter who committed suicide a few years back. When she departed, I saved the sheets, unlaundered, imprinted them "ANNA KASHFI, MISS WORLD, SLEPT HERE", and they were auctioned off at next Navy Relief Drive. Brought a pretty good price as I remember.
