Greetings Lonnie,
A few weeks ago I stumbled on your USS Bennington web sight. And yes I read it "cover to cover" so to speak. Lots of history and things I had forgotten.
I was able to add my name to the crew list and was surprised to see my old shipmate Willy Wilczynski was just ahead of me on the list.
I saw the photo of Benn anchored in Auke Bay just north of Juneau. However the caption says we were in Cook Inlet. No, Cook Inlet is north at Anchorage AK. Bennington did anchor in Auke Bay with the Mendenhall glacier in the back ground. I was part of the "expedition" that attempted to hike to the glacier and ended up accepting a ride from a very gracious Alaskan. Little did I know at the time that I would spend 25 years in South East Alaska and sail in and out of Auke Bay aboard my own sloop or during the last 2 1/2 years as an oiler aboard the vessels of the Alaska Marine Highway.
The above information I attempted to submit when I first came upon the web sight but it was returned to me as un-deliverable.

Keep up the good work.
Sincerely,
Larry Meehan
