This brought back memories (what I can recall) and after returning home, I did some web surfing and came across the web site for the USS Bennington. My Father, CHSCLK Earl Thornton, Jr. was killed in the explosion/fire and although many many years have passed, thought just maybe someone may remember knowing him.
