Thanks for the info regarding the BENNINGTON website. Another former shipmate also brought it to my attention just yesterday !

I was aboard BENNINGTON in 68-70 and decommissioned her in Bremerton on 15 JAN 70. I last visited her in Bremerton in the fall of 1987. A shipyard worker from PSNS opened her up for me and I was permitted to remove several mementoes which included the "In Charge of these spaces...." sign in the Personnel Office that still had my name on it. My last Watch, Quarters & Station Bill was still posted outside the Personnel Office in the passageway...had I known it was about to be sold for scrap, I would have taken that also ! I saw her for a final time in 1993 in Bremerton, but did not go aboard then.

I have many fond memories of BENNINGTON and the shipmates I served with aboard her. She was my last ship and I retired in 1978 after serving 30 years on active duty. I then worked another 18 years for the Navy as a civilian employee, so all toll I guess you might say I served a total of 48 years.

Thanks again for the info.

PNCM Joe D. PIERCE, USN (Retired)
